WISD Introduces Clear Bag Policy

In an effort to enhance safety, streamline event entry, and align with best practices used nationwide, Waxahachie ISD will implement a new clear bag guideline for spectators attending after-school and extracurricular events beginning immediately and effective into the 2026-27 school year. The guideline is designed to create a safer and more efficient experience for students, families, staff, and community members.

Importantly, this is not a student school-day requirement and does not apply to students attending classes during the regular instructional day. Instead, the guideline is focused on visitors and spectators attending athletic, fine arts, and other extracurricular events hosted by the district.

The following WISD facilities will adhere to the clear bag guideline:

• Lumpkins Stadium
• All WISD athletic fields
• All WISD secondary gymnasiums
• Performing Arts Center (PAC)
• Fine Arts Center (FAC)

District officials note that clear bag practices have become a widely adopted safety measure at sporting venues, performance facilities, colleges, universities, and professional event locations across the country. By allowing staff and security personnel to quickly identify the contents of bags, the guideline helps reduce entry delays while supporting a safer environment for all attendees.

Our goal is to provide a welcoming, secure, and enjoyable experience for everyone attending WISD events. This guideline allows guests to enter facilities more efficiently while also helping us maintain a high standard of event security.
