Operation 1st Day of School Returns

Waxahachie ISD is excited to once again partner with the Waxahachie community for Operation First Day of School, an annual event dedicated to helping local students and families kick off the school year with confidence and excitement.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at JW Williams Gymnasium at1000 N. Hwy 77, across from H-E-B. Families attending the event will have access to free back-to-school resources, including backpacks, school supplies, food distribution, haircuts, hygiene products, and more.

In addition to providing important back-to-school resources, the event offers families an opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled morning together with music, bounce houses, food trucks, games, community resources, and other family-friendly activities. Through the support of local partners, volunteers, and community organizations, Operation First Day of School helps ensure that every student has the tools they need to begin the school year prepared and confident.

Each year, this event is made possible through the incredible support of local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community partners who come together with one shared goal: making sure every student has the resources they need to begin the school year ready to learn and succeed.

Volunteers are the heart of Operation First Day of School! Waxahachie ISD is inviting individuals, businesses, community groups, and organizations to join us in making this year’s event a success.

There are many ways to get involved, including:

• Stuffing backpacks with school supplies before the event
• Helping with event setup and breakdown
• Assisting families with registration and check-in
• Distributing backpacks and school supplies
• Supporting activity areas and family engagement opportunities
• Providing general event support throughout the day

Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or an entire shift, your time and support help create a welcoming and memorable experience for students and families throughout our community.
