Welcome to Mrs. Wood's class. I am so excited about the upcoming school year. I know we will have a fabulous fifth grade year.
A little about me...
I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor degree and received my masters from Lamar University. I have been teaching for over 20 years at the elementary level in grades 2nd through 5th. In addition to general education, my certifications include Gifted & Talented, English Second Language, and Principal. My husband is a sergeant with the Desoto Police Department and serves on the Honor Guard. We live on a ranch where we raise Kunekune pigs, fainting goats, guinea fowl, and a few rare chicken breeds. We just got two beautiful Akbash livestock guardian dogs to protect our small herds of animals. We also have a hive of honey bees in our garden that help polinate and provide fresh honey.
Over the summer, I attended many STEM workshops through The Perot Museum, Texas A&M SPARK, and the Texas Wildlife Association. I am looking forward to sharing some of those experiences with the students this year.
