Life skills students from Waxahachie ISD elementary schools spent this week preparing for an afternoon out on the town.
On Friday, students loaded up on buses to downtown Waxahachie for a community-based educational outing. At the U.S. Post Office, students dropped off hand-written letters to Santa, which was followed by a visit to Fresh Market Coffee.
This outing allowed the students to exercise their writing, planning, and communication skills.
One-by-one students communicated their own hot chocolate or apple cider orders at the counter; each student had payment ready and handed it to the cashier. Upon ordering, students waited patiently in line for their orders and then gathered in groups to enjoy their warm drinks.
Campuses that participated in this outing included Dunaway, Marvin, Clift, Shackelford, and Wedgeworth Elementary Schools.
